My kids have decent clothes. The girls wear Lands' End dresses almost exclusively. I have done well over the years buying on clearance and from Ebay. They even get one new dress a year each! Clare has a bit more of the fashionista in her, so she has some variety in her wardrobe. Overall, we have very few things with holes, or horrible stains, or just downright ugly. 😉
So, why is it then that when we go to leave the house ( a very rare occurrence especially during the winter) my daughters go straight for their little waif clothing?! Elizabeth loves to find the most contrasting leggings to go with her dress. Or maybe a ripped pair of pants to go with a shirt that doesn't fit?! Clare is just as bad, mismatched or ripped clothes for an outing when every other day she is the picture of togetherness! Then they will dress Teresa in pants that are too short, socks that would fit Timmy and Augustine's booties! Thankfully, Regina is always consistent.
There have been many days that I have threatened my beauties that they will get to stay home with the dogs if they don't put on something presentable! Afterall, there is a really good chance their hair will still be a mess when we reach our destination. Couldn't they at least dress like they have a mother who takes care of them?!
Humility, humility, humility! I am learning, slowly.

You’re not alone–I could have written this post! 🙂 My kids are so attached to their LE dresses that they refuse to retire them and wear them way past their natural lifetime…those are the dresses they choose when we are running out the door! Mortification is good for the soul, eh?
