I would be remiss in my blogging duties if I forgot to chronicle our first two field trips of the year.

In September, we went to the Zoo. Katherine stayed behind because she had a game that night and didn't want to be worn out from walking around. So, it was the younger six and I. We actually had a practice run at getting ready the night before, as I thought that the trip was a week earlier than it was. LOL!

We went with other families and had perfect weather. We got there just in time to see the Sea Lions being fed. As usual, Regina had some good questions for the trainer. Some of the other highlights were the Orangutans crossing on the wires above us, the Elephants and the Small Mammal House.

Overall, it went really well. Everyone was well behaved and the only thing we lost was a sun hat!

Then, in October, numbers 2 through 5 went to the US Capitol with Daddy. The biggest thrill by far was the really long escalator at the Metro stop. The biggest bummer was standing in line for way too long to try to get in to watch Congress in session. They gave up before they got in. Note to self: next time, skip the tour and wander around the Mall with the kids.

Hopefully, we will get out a few more times before it turns too cold and I need to hibernate!
