I am struggling these days. Maybe it is just exhaustion, but I feel like I am drowning under the mess and the needs of my family.
So, I was thinking today that I need to try a little harder to be grateful for what I have. And maybe try to have a sense of humor about those things that tend to drive me up a wall.
I know my family thinks that I don’t have a sense of humor. But I do, or at least I did once upon a time. Of course, once upon a time I was pretty and thin, and actually LIKED being pregnant!
So, here goes…
I am grateful for:
Bed linens soaked in pee, my children have somewhere to sleep.
Dirty clothes on the bathroom floor, my children have something to wear.
Dirty dishes, everywhere, my children are well fed.
Construction paper, scissors, glue, tape, spread around the dining room, my children love to create.
Clean clothes, unfolded, on the loveseat, I have a washer and dryer that work.
School books on the buffet, the couch, the floor in front of the bookshelf, I am able to homeschool my kids.
Children on couches, swings, recliners, with noses buried in books, oblivious to the mess, my children have a great love of reading.
Boogers on the bathroom wall (okay, this is the hardest one!), let’s see, at least my children have noses, ;-). Or at least they are conserving tissues.
See, it’s not so bad after all.

I am grateful for: boys who yell and wrestle and are physical: they are healthy and strong.
I am grateful for: being in debt over our reroofing endeavors: I have a dh who can roof the house, and literally a roof over our heads.
lisa 🙂

This was GREAT, Molly. I know I used to have a sense of humor too, but I have never really loved being pregnant, so you’ve got me beat on that one! LOL! Loved your list.
Poop on the bathroom floor from a preschooler who didn’t quite make it in time…..I’m grateful that they have indoor plumbing to RUN TO!

LOL! Thank you! I needed that today!
I am grateful for soap and water, a good stiff straw broom, cleaning rags and a plentiful supply of garbage bags. Without them, you would not be able to find me under all of those loving fingerprints and assorted discarded items left in the wake of my creative kids today! (hmm…I could almost swear I hear God laughing at me sometimes..in a good way, I mean….I got to stop taking things so seriously…especially me ;o)
