So, we were praying the family Rosary at the end of a busy day. It was late so we decided to only pray one decade. The latest "thing" around here is Rosary apps. I joke that if anyone found my iPhone they'd immediately know I'm Catholic because I have so many Rosary apps. Anyway, between the two iPhones and the iPad, we have a pretty high tech prayer time. Teresa loves using an app when we prayer. She holds a Rosary in one hand and the phone in her other. It is helping her pay attention and learn to use the beads. She often will lead a decade and likes to announce the Mystery. But, I digress…
The evening in question was not one of Teresa's more attentive ones. As I said, it was late. So, she missed the memo that we were saying one decade instead of five. I wasn't really paying much attention to her, I was praying after all and she was quiet. She was just heading over to me to find her place when we started praying the Hail,Holy Queen. As we began striking our breasts she looked totally shocked and confused (as Katherine says, she gave us a look that only Teresa can give. I can't explain it but I start laughing hysterically again remembering it!) and she exclaimed "That was fast!". I started laughing so hard I could hardly finish praying. (I know, bad Mommy!) She thought she had missed the whole thing! It was so cute!
Okay, so maybe you had to be there. I just know that whenever I read this I will laugh just as hard at the memory as I did that night! 🙂 And that is why I blog.
(A little Rosary primer for my non-Catholic readers: the Rosary consists of five "decades" which include the Our Father, ten Hail Marys, the Glory Be, and the Fatima prayer. During each decade we meditate on one of the "Mysteries" of Christ's life. There are Joyful, Sorrowful, Luminous, and Glorious Mysteries. We say a different set of mysteries on different nights. After the five decades comes the prayer Hail, Holy Queen. So as you can see many prayers were left out that evening which accounted for Teresa's confusion.)
