I like to make comments like "We’ll start school in August". This does not actually mean that I have finished my planning or made a schedule or even recovered from last school year, by July 31. Not even close.

But to Princess Grace, August means bright and early on the morning of August 1. Everyone up, finish breakfast and break out those fresh new schoolbooks! Pencils are labeled with everyone’s initials and orders are given that said pencils are not to be lost as they will be replaced with old pencils with chewed erasers!

Did I forget to mention that we are entering month three of no AC in the bedrooms? So, this poor pregnant mama is more than a little tired from trying to sleep on a loveseat with an almost four year old bedfellow to keep her company.

Back to the first day of school….
To Big B, August means not a day sooner than August 31 and no one is going to get a pencil in his hand a moment sooner! There is still a lot of swimming, trampoline-jumping and X-box playing to be done. Suffice it to say Princess Grace and Big B did not see eye-to-eye this morning. Happy New Year!!!

Ah, but the excitement and the anger wore off quickly, and new pencils were exchanged for ping pong paddles, and the angry, opposite siblings were off to enjoy one of those great benefits of homeschooling, the mid-morning break!

Maybe now tired Mama can try to catch up with her planning, scheduling and recovery…maybe.
