This week I am mom to a 2 year old and a 7 month old, only. The top six are off on their summer excursions. It is just George, Sweet Em and dear old Mom. (Dad is here in the evenings.)
Charlie is at his Military Leadership Academy. He has been working up for this all summer. I hope he gets a good work out and learns something valuable to take with him into his Marine Corps career.
The next five are at Vacation Bible School with Grandmommy. It is Little Red's first year. So far, so good, they tell me. They call each night and put me on speaker phone to say prayers with them. That was Princess Belle's idea. I like it. I really miss them.
Sweet Em is missing them, too, especially her roommate, Princess Grace. It is heartbreaking to put her in bed screaming for her big sister.
I was hoping to get some cleaning and organizing done this week. Pretty funny, huh?! Sweet Em is at least cooperating by napping. George is not. He only sleeps in brief intervals, unless, of course, I hold him. Then he will sleep soundly for an hour or more. Not very productive, but pretty cozy!
I did put that snuggle time to good use today. I got to read a fantastic new book for homeschoolers, Haystack Full of Needles by the wonderful Alice Gunther. It is truly inspiring! Alice is full of wonderful ideas for building a community of homeschool families. I am excited about trying to put some of her suggestions into practice. Actually, I am ready to pack up and move to Long Island to join Alice's group! I am figuring there will be a sudden upswing in the Long Island housing market with all the Catholic homeschoolers trying to relocate there.
Well, break time's over. I'm off to snuggle my babes and read that story about the mouse, the strawberry and the hungry bear for the 500th time before tucking Sweet Em into bed.
