Last weekend, Katherine received the Sacrament of Confirmation. We are very proud of her and excited as she enters this new life in Christ. The bishop presided and gave a wonderful homily. He encouraged the children to remember that the Holy Spirit is now their partner, and their source of strength, as they go out into the world and encounter the evil that is lurking out there.
She chose Saint Gianna Molla as her Confirmation saint. Saint Gianna is a model of what it is to give everything for your child. She is the perfect role model for both mothers and professional women. She was a physician as well as a dedicated mother. She was faced with a life-threatening illness while pregnant with her fourth child and chose to forgo treatment which would have saved her but killed her child. She died shortly after the baby's birth.
We had a lovely little party with family and friends after the Mass.
