Note to self: Never say something so silly as "My kids never get sick. They take immune stuff daily and haven't been sick in years," when giving someone else medical advice for their sick child. Being Catholic, I don't, of course, believe in "jinxing" myself, but it does seem to be one of those things that never fail!Teresa and Augustine have stuffy noses. Teresa started with a cough last night and threw up all over me while sitting on my lap. Lovely. She now sounds almost croupy. Today was the day we were headed to my mom's for Katherine's birthday. 🙁
I suspect the cause is not my over-confident statement but is more likely the result of our recent excursions into the world, including playing in the playroom at co-op, riding in a shopping cart at Target, and then running around outside without a coat because it was "really warm"! Just the same, I should hold my tongue from now on.
Of course, with illness comes sweet cuddly moments and tender, motherly caring from older sisters. It is touching to watch them wake up with their sick sister in the middle of the night, or wipe her nose and bring her food and drinks. It just seems to come so naturally. A great reminder of what a gift a large family is!
